A driver sparked a security alert today (8 September), after leaving a scooter parked near the front of the European Commission’s Berlaymont building.
Heard in Europe sources said Commission security, fearing a potential bomb attack, called the cops after spotting the parked-up scooter, which appeared to have sailed serenely past the guards.
Belgian police cordoned off the area surrounding Commission HQ for the second time in as many days at around 4pm. The cordon was lifted by 5pm after the sheepish driver was found.

Yesterday, riot police barricaded the Berlaymont against the onslaught of angry farmers.
Who says everything is happening in Strasbourg this week?
