Possibly the two most vamous – sorry famous – politicians with surnames beginning with the letter V, Yanis Varoufakis and Guy Verhofstadt appear set to meet.
Greece’s iconic finance minister and the ALDE leader crossed swords on social media before Guy proposed a high-level pow-wow.
Guy – known behind his back as “the Hoff” – got Yanis’ goat with this slightly patronising Tweet after reading an interview with the leather-jacketed economics prof in our parent publication EurActiv.

It didn’t take long for Yanis to answer…

Oh Guy, I bet you say that to all the girls!
So who knows? In a way we could be single-handedly responsible for solving the Greece crisis. Well, with a little help from our friends at Tagesspiegel and Twitter.
But given the progress of talks over the recent days, best not hold your breath;
Still, at least this blog has given Heard in Europe the excuse to publish this video again – something for which we can all be grateful.
